Birth Anniversary of V.O. Chidambaranar: Remembering the Swadeshi Pioneer Who Defied the British Empire

On the birth anniversary of freedom fighter V.O. Chidambaranar (Kappalottiya Thamizhan), Udhayanidhi Stalin honored the legendary patriot who launched India's first indigenous commercial shipping venture to challenge the British East India maritime monopoly. Highlighting the unspeakable hardships VOC endured—including brutal solitary confinement and being yoked to an oil press like an ox—Udhayanidhi underscored that VOC's uncompromising economic nationalism and devotion to the motherland remain an eternal source of pride for the Tamil nation.
