Deadly Ammonia Gas Leak at Periyapalayam Shrimp Plant Claims 7 Lives: Safety Audit Demanded

Reacting with profound shock to the lethal ammonia gas leak at a private seafood export and shrimp processing facility near Periyapalayam in Tiruvallur district, which resulted in the deaths of seven workers and severe poisoning of dozens, Udhayanidhi Stalin demanded a comprehensive industrial safety investigation. Expressing deep condolences to the victims' families, Udhayanidhi urged the state government to provide immediate financial compensation of ₹25 lakh to the bereaved families, ensure top-tier medical care for hospitalized workers, and conduct mandatory safety audits across all hazardous chemical and cold storage plants in the state.
