Karunguzhi Rally: Udhayanidhi Stalin Slams 'Sofa Model' Regime Over MLA Poaching, Forecasts Fall of Incompetent Administration

Campaigning in Karunguzhi for DMK candidate E. Paranthaman in the Maduranthakam Assembly by-election, Tamil Nadu Leader of the Opposition and DMK Youth Wing Secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin delivered a blistering critique of the ruling dispensation's armchair governance. Accompanied by senior leaders E.V. Velu and T.M. Anbarasan, Udhayanidhi addressed a surging crowd, characterizing the administration as a 'Sofa Model' regime detached from grassroots realities and sustained solely through unprincipled political poaching. Udhayanidhi stated that rather than addressing agrarian distress, stagnant industrial development, or escalating unemployment among rural graduates, the ruling leadership squandered public resources to acquire turncoat legislators. He declared that an administration built on opportunism is actively dragging Tamil Nadu’s progressive growth trajectory backward, reducing governance to administrative farce, neglecting basic welfare entitlements, and subverting the collective dignity of the electorate. Predicting that the Maduranthakam by-election will trigger the decisive downfall of the incumbent regime, Udhayanidhi urged Karunguzhi voters to assert their democratic authority. He appealed to working-class families and young voters to back E. Paranthaman on the Rising Sun symbol, emphasizing that every vote cast against the ruling setup strengthens constitutional probity and protects the social justice gains secured under the Dravidian model.
